Parent Advisory Board

PURPOSE
The purpose of the Parent Advisory Board is to create a community among parents of Saltbox School students through various social events, volunteer opportunities and fundraising efforts. The Board also exists to provide a channel of communication in which ideas and opportunities for the school may be shared, discussed, explored and implemented, as appropriate, subject to the approval of the School Director. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged in order to ensure the best school experience for both the children and the parents.

BOARD MEMBERS AND MEETING TIMES
The Advisory Board consists of two Co-Heads (Elizabeth McCarthy and Donnatella Hebert) In addition, a Fund-raising Chairperson (Molly Pomposelli) and one to two parent representatives from each classroom will serve on the Board. These parent representatives will be Room Parents. The Board will formally meet every other month, though intervening meetings may be held, as needed. Any Saltbox parent is always welcome to attend any Board meeting, if desired. At any time, any questions or concerns may be directed to the School Director and/or any member of the Advisory Board. The first Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 6th at 9:00am. The meeting will be held at Molly Pomposelli’s house.

ROOM PARENTS
The role of a Room Parent is to be a conduit through which parents can have questions answered or concerns addressed. In addition, the Room Parent will organize casual social opportunities for the parents in that particular classroom (e.g. coffee hours, dinner and/or drinks) as well as coordinate with Room Parents from other classrooms to organize occasional school-wide social opportunities for parents.

We are looking for 1 – 2 parent representatives for each class. If you are interested, please email Elizabeth McCarthy at ebeth72@yahoo.com by October 6th.
